After 55 years, the Monastero Family announces Monastero’s will close on November 18th, 2017
A message from the Monastero Family
April 19, 2017
Since siblings Gina, Joe Sr, and Salvy opened La Canopy Pizzeria in 1962 and Monastero’s Ristorante in 1967, it has been an honor for our family to be part of Chicago’s restaurant community. Three generations of Monasteros have welcomed customers into our extended home and family.
After being approached by a church and giving thoughtful consideration to the future, we wish to announce that our family has made the decision to sell our property to them and close Monastero’s Ristorante & Banquets on November 18th, 2017. It is a fitting legacy that the property on which we have shared our love of food and music for 55 years will be redeveloped into a church and religious community center.
We sincerely appreciate the loyal patronage of our customers. Thank you for making Monastero’s a multi-generational Chicago tradition. We also extend heartfelt thanks to our devoted restaurant and banquet staff, many of whom have worked with us for decades.
We will continue to serve lunch and dinner in our restaurant as well as accept banquets through November. Join us throughout 2017 to celebrate our 55th Anniversary, share delicious food, and create more memories together before we bid Arrivederci.
On behalf of the Monastero Family,
Joe Sr., Martha, Maria Elisabeth, Maria Giorgia, and Joe Jr.
